Creeping along

This week I’m down 0.6 pounds from last Friday. Hmph. Not impressive. But it’s still a loss! As I near my goal of 148, it’s getting harder and harder to drop the weight. But I will not be deterred! Being able to fit into my clothes again is quite the motivator.

Turns out I’m really quite fond of several items in my wardrobe. If only I could toss the stuff I’m “meh” about. But I can’t afford to replace things wholesale. Drat. Today I wore a pair of my J.Crew skinny jeans. Oh heaven. To say they “fit” would be overstating it just a tad, but dammit, I wore those suckers (thank goodness for a loose-fitting silk shirt).

Oh and as far as needing motivation goes, the desire to have my wedding rings fit once again (grr) also keeps me going and keeps me away from the cookies… for the most part.

Hunger (no, not Games)

I am pretty sure that I should have this e-card saved on my iPhone so I can send it out on more occasions than I care to admit. My best friend Dianna calls it “the beast.” My coworker Sarah calls it getting “hangry” (love that!). I should never leave home without a snack.

Please be mine

I am obsessed with this Dooney & Bourke bag. It’s white nylon and tan leather, nice and summery, casual material but a bit of a structured look. And I want it now. I’ve convinced myself that I’ll be able to wipe grubby baby paw prints off the white since it’s nylon (I could pre-treat it, yes?). And it’s so roomy, I can carry my stuff and a few things for the little muffin too. It’s totally meant to be, right?

Another box of goodies

My Citrus Lane package arrived last week. I was so busy being sick that I didn’t really get to dig through it until this weekend. It’s perfect! The theme is “dining” and it’s chock full of goodies, including stackable bowls, reusable snack sack, food pouches and mommy’s little treat – Weleda products! The timing is perfect as we just started feeding the baby a little bit of “solid” food each day after daycare. I’m going to be so bummed out when my subscription to Citrus Lane ends.

Friday fantasy

My work life is pretty good, but it would be 100 times better if I could get one of these installed.

And with that, I wish you all, un bon week end!

I had help

…in the form of violently painful upper abdomen pain, the onset of which was after my lunchtime meal. So, I was reluctant to eat much the last day or two. At 157.4 I am now within 10 pounds of my goal weight. Woohoo!

The trick now is to venture out to dinner tonight – we just have to dine al fresco on this lovely evening, before the rainy weekend arrives – without triggering whatever it is that is plaguing my innards.

Busboys & Poets, here we come! (I’m sure the patio will be full, but we have to try.)

Spree!

Mama went on a very overdue shopping spree on Monday at lunchtime. I had a 50% off full-priced items coupon from Banana Republic, and had hit another weight loss milestone last Friday, so I made the trip with a couple of coworkers. The ability to fit into a size 8 [coral pink!] blazer was too much to resist. I’ll take you. Hmm… now that I know how to tie scarves, this little lady is a keeper too. Oh, what an awesome cuff! Mine. Do I really need this navy & orange necklace? But it’s navy. So yes.

It is so nice to fit into some of my pre-pregnancy clothes again (I went through my dresser & closet this weekend). Hallelujah! I had forgotten how much I love some of the items I’ve purchased in recent years. It’s like getting a whole new wardrobe. Well, one that could use a few fresh additions. Et voila!

Down by the Tidal Basin

As part of my quest to take advantage of the things our fine city has to offer, the family headed down to the Tidal Basin on Sunday evening to take in the cherry blossoms, which are in full bloom. The weather was far too gorgeous to stay inside (which we had done most of the weekend as I tackled our taxes – hooray for a refund!).

As usual, we were inundated with the “What a cute little boy!” comments. Really? She’s wearing a pink striped shirt! I don’t really care, because I have seen very few babies that have a clearly identifiable gender based upon looks alone, but why do people insist upon guessing (incorrectly)? I know I don’t deck her out in flowers and headbands with bows, but isn’t pink a pretty clear indicator?
